About

Lazer Happy is an art production studio and curatorial project founded by artist Adrian Tone in collaboration with Gerard Kilgallon. It aims to remove barriers that separate a cloistered art world from the public by creating highly refined works, fully realized marketing campaigns, and a continual commitment to collaboration and reinvention. With a constant willful eye towards contemporary pop culture and the zeitgeist, Lazer Happy invites its audience to relax and delight in the pleasure of artmaking.

All About Love w/ Joe + Kelly
— LaZer @ Nov 10, 2005 @ 10:51 am

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

All About Love With Joe And Kelly
friday November 18th 2005
6:30 - 10pm
1153 W. Grand (Blue EL Grand stop)

Kelly’s paintings are happy, warm, colorful, and at times quite narcissistic. As a native Floridian, she came to Chicago to earn her BFA from The Art Institute, in her last year in the painting and drawing department Kelly is very aware of current trends as well as her contemporary fellow painters. With a vocabulary full of luscious green plants, shiny blond hair and sometimes seductive felines she stands somewhat at odds amidst the harsh gray and cold Chicago winter landscape.

Joe’s work is charmingly masculine and very decorative. As a native Chicagoan Joe grew up with places like Marshall Fields, and Carson Prire Scott. It is these places that provide him with income as well as inspiration for his artwork. While his work is not necessarily a critique of this rich suburbanite culture, it is not a celebration of it either. It is more amazed by its absurdity than anything else.

I wasn’t in Chicago when you could buy drugs and prostitutes right in front of Carson Prire Scott, but Joe assured me it was so.
